New track from the upcoming Scott Pilgrim game

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Hell yes! Anamanaguchi, the wonderful music wizards that they are, have released a new track from the upcoming Scott Pilgrim game.  Holy shit does this reek of fantastic.  Their chiptune meets rock and roll styling are clearly inspired by games of old so clearly they were a perfect choice for the side scrolling beat ‘em up due out on PSN August 10th (TBA for XBLA).  The 6th and final book drops one week from today and the movie is out on the 13th of August.  If you aren’t in the know with Scott Pilgrim or Anamanaguchi, then get in it or you are missing out.

Nintendo’s 3DS anti-piracy shenanigans

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Nintendo is apparently beefing up anti-piracy measures with their upcoming hand held behemoth: the 3DS.  The VP of THQ’s Global Publishing said: “The problem with the DS market in the last few years, particularly with the DS Lite, is that it’s just been attacked by piracy. It’s made it almost impossible to shift any significant volume. The DSi combated it a little bit, but the 3DS has taken that a step further. What excites me even more (than 3DS games) is that there’s technology built in that device to really combat piracy.”

WHOOPS

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Hm.

It would figure I post my musings on gaming’s future and RealID’s impact on it when Blizzard officially retracts the whole big mess.  It’s still worth mentioning that it’s scary that this could still potentially be a reality but at least they finally got the picture.  They carefully chose their words with saying

at this time that real names will not be required for posting on official Blizzard forums.”

Knowing marketing and PR that means “for now”.  We’ll see, Acti- ahem, Blizzard, we’ll see…

Dead Rising 2 Box Art + more!

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

This man gives no fucks

Capcom released the box art for Dead Rising 2 today, and I think it captures the spirit of the game rather well.  While our hero looks rather dapper with his  motorcycle jacket and chainsaw-oar-deathmachine, I kind of like the look our pal in the tuxedo is sporting with the Servbot helmet.  More news after the jump:

The Scott Pilgrimage

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Flickr user mad5l5in5 went on a little trip around Toronto to snap photos of locations in the Scott Pilgrim series.  It’s pretty evident that at GNSU we love us some Scott Pilgrim so this is a really awesome idea.  I already bugged Brian and Arien about taking trips to some of these places when I head up North later this summer to visit so this has me extra excited.  Click the image above to take the Scott Pilgrimage photo tour.  Some thoughts and more photos after the jump.

Yes!

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Yes, we do love other people.  Contrary to popular belief the GNSU crew is not a hateful bunch of geeks – we really do care about others! (Plus it’s an excuse to post this bitchin’ Scott Pilgrim image)

So we finally started linking to some people we thought you should check out, some fun time blogs that we feel compliment us by touching on some things we don’t talk about on our site. Check them out below:
