The irony is that Gabe and Steam made people not want to pirate things...
We hate to go on and on about how much we love Valve and all that (can you blame us? really?) but this Fanboy’s guest strip by Ryan Cole was pretty good and killed it with an animated gif.
This seriously captures the spirit of Gaben. I mean really – the guy is a goddamn boss. Well, he’s quite literally the boss of Valve but I mean it in a figurative sense too. You know, like a boss – okay, maybe that’s not the best example either. While I’m sure Gaben has no problem with turning into a jet, bombing the russians and flying into the sun, I don’t know about crashing his car or fellating a dude he is not familiar with. I digress, the man is simply a cool dude. He has a greatsenseofhumor, he is quite involved with our favorite PC titles, and he listens to the gaming community. Honestly, I think the only thing that could have made the Kinect presentation at E3 even work was if the guy decided to appear. Screw the Michael Jackson dance crew fiasco they bombed with, why didn’t they get Gaben? An unforgettable mistake indeed. Even though Nintendo stole the show according to many I think having Gabe and Kevin Butler make an appearance scored Sony major points (fyi: we think Sorcery was the shit).
So this is a virtual high five for our pal, Gabe. If you had a reality show we’d watch the ever loving shit out of it. For real. Plenty of people love PA TV over at Penny Arcade so I’m SURE a Valve series would be a hit. Or Gabe and Kevin Butler as buddy cops…
We're really torn between this and the idea of a valve reality show...
Today Capcom announced that Dead Rising 2 will be available in the US of A on September 28th 2010. Then you will be able to tackle hordes of the undead with makeshift duct tape weaponary including chainsaw lances and goddamn wolverine boxing gloves. How badass is that? Sure, it’s old news you’ll be able to DO those things but it’s pretty exciting if you consider the opportunities. I for one, am hoping for the ability to add a chainsaw bayonet to the megabuster. Or maybe a chainsaw bicycle lance. Or… okay, most of my ideas right now involve chainsaws but can you blame me?
Who knew how relevant this gif would end up being?
This post on XugoGaming.com mentions that Iwata wants to draw in serious gamers with the 3DS. This is a very interesting statement coming from a company that has catered to a casual crowd in recent years in both the DS and the Nintendo Wii.
Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo came and gave it their all but there was only one true standout winner…
E3 2010 is over and we’re here to offer our thoughts on what went down this year from the good to the bad to the ugly – there is also a fair amount of discussion regarding Shaun White’s hair but that’s besides the point.
Well then you may just enjoy APB. APB is best described as a GTA 4 clone, but also so much more than that. In this open world 3rd person action game, you can be a criminal, defacing property, running down civilians or even mugging them with firm punches to the face for their hard earned cash. From what I’ve played so far it seems you can do everything a criminal can in this game even if you don’t want to do missions you can still steal cars and deliver them to chop shops for cash.
Cops or Enforcers as they’re called in these games have options themselves, recover stolen vehicles, witness crimes like muggings taking place before your eyes or do other various missions. Seeing as the word enforcer replaced cop you’re more of a vigilante so you have a license to kill in your pocket. Of course, you can also opt out for tazer guns and beanbag shotguns in the hopes of arresting a criminal which puts them out of the game for 20 seconds longer and allows you to smack talk them at the same time.
Playing this game straight out isn’t the only thing you can do though, this game features quite the detailed clothing, gun, car, music, logo editor. Creating a decal is quite simple, taking shapes and laying them out in sequence or twisting them into other shapes for lots of different pictures. You can then take said decal and plaster it over anything you like, use it as spray paint for tagging walls, put it on your clothes, or even your car. Just take a look at what I and others did…
Let’s take a brief break from E3 – shall we? I came into work today and sat down to go about my day with my iPod on shuffle to keep me from bludgeoning myself with a stapler when this gem came on:
…a song from the SMASH 90′s hit family sitcom “Dinosaurs” it was none other than Baby Sinclair singing “I’m the baby, gotta love me…” etc.
How would something like this happen you ask? Simple.
