some bears from star trek or something idk

Naughty Bear’s multiplayer modes were announced today by 505.  The four different modes more or less translate to king of the hill, capture the flag, attack and defend and death match game modes standard to a lot of games.

The game modes come off as tacked on and don’t seem to offer anything additional to the experience.  This is something a lot of games are guilty of – a totally underwhelming multiplayer experience.  Sure, some games can drop a killer multiplayer and singleplayer experience but for the most part games should stick to what they are good at.  Either offer us a good single player experience or go all the way with the multi.

PS3 to follow 360s tracks…maybe.

sony

It’s that time again, E3 is less than a month away and all us gaming nerds are excited!  But that’s only half the story.

For a few months now there have been rumours of a PSN premium service [SonyInsider] that would enhance the overall usability of the PSN.  Premium features could include premium customer service, extended warranty, access to beta games, cross-game voice chat, a token wagering system which can be used to purchase free content, discounts on all store purchases, cloud storage, online music service, 1  hour trials on full games, *deep breath* and a whole crap load more.  Sounds pretty good right?  The price?  $70 a year.

That’s quite a bit of content there for that price.  Now as a non-360 user, I’m not sure how this stacks up to the Live premium services but it sounds like a fantastic deal to me.  More recent rumours [engadget] have shown that the service may be announced at Sony’sE3 conference.  Could this be a bad move for Sony that has stated over and over that their online services would always be free?  They’re not taking anything away from the current PSN services, just adding more bonus content onto it.  Even more important, what regions would get these services?  Up here in Canada, we still don’t have the video network yet.  Australia got it before us…AUSTRALIA!  But I guess they should get something if they can’t get a violent video game.  What I’m saying is that Sony needs to release it everywhere at the same time or not at all.

It’s that time again, E3 is less than a month away and all us gaming nerds are excited!  But that’s only half the story.

Final Fantasy Versus 13 on the 360?

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Rumors are flying around the web about the possibility of Final Fantasy Versus 13 coming to the 360.

Recently remarks regarding the possible cross platform release were cleared up [kotaku].  According to Yoichi Wada, Square Enix’s president, all that was said is that all titles are “pending” until an official announcement is made.

This makes FF13 Versus on the 360 a possibility but not a sure thing.
With Final Fantasy 13 selling 5.5 million copies world wide since the Japanese release in December of 09 (and only being out in the US for a little under three months) it kind of makes you wonder if they really think releasing Versus on the 360 would be a bad idea.
Then again maybe due to Square Enix’s record year in sales [IGN] they have too much money and just want to throw it away.  Who wants to help orphans anyway?
